Yes, we've relived this day many times - including last night when we were talking about yours. I'd forgotten that water was a part of this story though. Great fun!
1 week agoOK - my day into Cerét is nothing in comparison! Wow - I'd be telling this story for years.
1 week agoJacinto and I agreed as much as we didn't like the uphill hike a bike, that downhill might be more difficult, because of controlling the weight of the bike.
1 week agoI noticed riding into town that the long row of plane trees have small silver colored tags with numbers. I should have taken a photo, but I was running on fumes then. Are the plane trees tracked in some historical sort of manner? Are they considered rare? I thought you might know.
1 week agoNo, the language in the post is just a little awkward. I just turned 72, meaning I’m just beginning my 73rd year. I probably shouldn’t have put it quite like that because it’s easy to misunderstand.
I was born on 12/01/1946. I’m 78, and just starting my
79th year.
Reading from the top of the page. It was 2018, you were 73. If my math is correct, you turn 80 this year?
4 months agoCroatia in the spring! That could be amazing. I’d go sooner than later I think, and hope for good luck with the weather. Get there before the masses. It’ll never be like it was when we were there two years later though, during the Covid year. Trip of a lifetime, we had the place to ourselves: https://www.cycleblaze.com/journals/zagreb2020/
8 months agoHey, you look like that too (BB10$^6)! I’m in the midst of research (aka copy what TA has done) for our next tour … spring 2025. These Croatian islands look spectacular! Thanks again, and in advance, for all your crumb trails.
8 months agoThank you for pointing this page out to me. I'm happy it's recent enough that you have included a map. I think we are just going to have to go round in circles once we get to southern France - it all looks like a must see area.
8 months agoSo funny! I opened up your post before seeing this photo, and recognized her immediately. Irrepressible is the word for her, alright.
1 year agoWhat a small small world for cycle tourers! I'm researching (aka probably copying most of your tour) our next tour (thinking Croatian coast to Santander via Slovenia , Italian Alps and French Pyrenees) and I come across this post!
We stayed at Hotel Chic, hosted by the irrepressible Carmen too!

Kirsten had an instant like too!
We're following along on your current tour too (just not commenting on much) and the Extremadura region looks fabulous. Another area that we were completely ignorant of.
Could be; I should have been brought up Catholic. In any case, we can really recommend Albenga, and Jophesa’s place. Say hi to her for us if you stop by.
5 years agoActually, with that hat and robe colour, I think he's a cardinal.
5 years agoUnbelievable!! How on Earth did you find this?!
Mrs. Grumby, bleeped once more.
I'll go wash out my mouth with soap now.
The plane trees are a feature of southern France, one of the things I really love about this region. You'll be seeing a lot of them in the next several rides. I don't know why they're tagged, but I'm sure they must be registered and identified for some reason.
