Day 087 - Rest Day

As forecast, it was cold and wet all day. There was light rain all morning which turned into a drizzle in the afternoon. By mid-afternoon boredom overcame our desire to stay dry, so we drove over to the Divide County Pioneer Village. Once there, Jeanna's desire to stay dry again became a top priority and decided to stay in the car, while I wondered around the grounds.

It's off to Williston tomorrow.

Old kerosene tractors. There were many brands represented, many of which I had never heard of.

There were many Rumely Oil Pull tractors on display. As with so many other things, there are clubs and websites dedicated to this brand.

Hart-Parr was established in Charles City, Iowa by Charles Hart and Charles Parr. I wonder if it was a coincident that they chose Charles City.

The Big Four 45 was the largest tractor of its time, and this is the only one known to exist today.

The steel wheels are 8' tall and 30" wide. There are 3 rows of spokes supporting it.

Looking around, I saw several other odd tractors.

Crosby is having its annual Threshermen's Festival this weekend. Volunteers were busy towing the old equipment out and lining it up for display. The man on the lead tractor told me that most of the machines run, and it gets very noisy when they fire them all up.

Besides steam engines, there were several tractors from the 40's onward.

This barn was full of stationary engines.

This snowmobile is huge by today's standards.

Small flowers scattered about the grass.
