Day 071 - Superior, WI to Beaver Bay, MN

Today was a day of "type 2 fun".  It was long, it was cold, it was windy, and rain was predicted.

The only good thing about the day is that I didn't get rained upon.

However, Jeanna got rained upon twice.  The first shower occurred before she had caught up to me, and the second shower happened after lunch, and she had gone ahead of me.  I guess timing is everything!

View entering Duluth. It was overcast like this for much of the day.

Downtown Duluth. I really don't know anybody who likes old movie marquees, but I decided to take a photo anyway :-)

We met for lunch in Two Harbors around 1:30.  By that time the temperature had risen to the mid 50's (it was 51 when I started out at 9AM) and the sky didn't look as threatening, so I decided to visit the Lake County Historical Society Museum.

Two Harbors harbor. The ore docks are out of sight to the right.

The two ore docks to the right are still active.

A close up of the active docks. Each can load a 1,000 ft. ore ship in around 7 hours.
