High Peak Trail

The High Peak Trail is today's objective but only one of us will be riding it.

It's a 27 km ride along the High Peak line from Parsley Hay (such a delightful name!) to Cromford Canal. Unlike many railway lines, this one was only intended for the carriage of freight between two canals.

My job is to deliver the van to the trailhead, Cromford Canal, then to ride up the incline to meet Bruce.

Cleverly I manage to arrive just in enough time to unload the bike and pedal a couple of steep km upwards before our paths cross and we return to the van. I blame the delay on poor navigation skills and unreliable technology (you really cannot look at Apple Maps on a phone while driving along a narrow country lane; nor can you activate the voice function if said phone is not yours and you happen to hate Apple).

To round off the day, we spend an entertaining afternoon at the excellent Crich Tramway Village just a few kilometers down the road but many years in the past.
