Day Four: Grand Junction, CO to Winnemucca, NV
Good Morning. Started off with Wordle, Chateau coffee and good breakfast. Target stop was Winnemucca, NV (635 miles). Loaded up and on our way. Short drive to Utah. Entered Utah near Moab, passed through Provo (after having to take a two hour detour around HWY 6 closure) then Salt Lake City.
West of Salt Lake City is the Great Salt Lake along with 100s of miles of salt flats. Passed by Morton salt mining plant, Bonneville Salt Flats and blustering clouds of salt.
Nothing much to see in Northern Utah. Compared to Utah, Nevada was an oasis - still arid, no trees but no salt. If you like slot machines and smoke, Nevada has casinos in every hotel.
