Beaten by the heat. Jaunty bells for the P. Bikes on Dikes.
Start from campground in woods and catch a free ferry. We continue along dikes. Hot.
The dikes are high, above the first floor of the houses. I am level with the middle of an enormous walnut tree we pass. Consequently, we have less protection from the wind.
Church carillons play the hours. Each has a different tune, some quite jaunty. We are lunching near the one at Rosmalen, when I confess to feeling less than jaunty, so we plan our stopping point and book a room.
I pick up, of course, as the riding is mostly in woods.
Vincent, Airbnb host, has a cold drink for us and an upstairs room. He also has a garden room where we can prepare some dinner and sit outside. A young Romanian is putting his supplies in the little fridge. He is working locally as an electrician at a shipyard and boarding at Altijd Zon, and says he, "Did not have to like it here.” Poor chap is lonely and bored.
Our fan does not work but we ditch the duvets and ignoring the "rural" scent from the property next door, set to sleep.
