And just like that, we are both back to work at the same jobs that we left. Patrick's co-workers say (tongue in cheek), "sit down and go to work we don't want to hear about it". Rachel was told she'd have a few days to reorient to the OR for what changes might have occurred...within 2 hours of that first day back, she was circulating a case.

Mike AylingWow, what a ride!

Re Uluru/Ayres Rock. Rachel may be pleased to hear that from October 2019 visitors may no longer climb the rock and it has been fenced off and the climbing chains removed.
From Wikipedia -
The local Aṉangu do not climb Uluru because of its great spiritual significance. They request that visitors do not climb the rock, partly due to the path crossing a sacred traditional Dreamtime track, and also due to a sense of responsibility for the safety of visitors. Until October 2019, the visitors guide said "the climb is not prohibited, but we prefer that, as a guest on Aṉangu land, you will choose to respect our law and culture by not climbing."[5]

Some years prior they stopped camping there and closed down the motel. All that remains is an interpretation and visitors centre run by the local Anangu people. You may still walk or cycle around the Rock.
A township has been established about 30km away with an airport, hotels, motels, backpackers etc.

Buses take you to the Rock or there is a car park from which you can walk to the Rock.

Cheers

Mike
