Ray Roberts Trail, TX

The belly of the beast … but first, we spent last evening with some good friends, went to dinner, caught up on the past, and convinced them to try the trikes.

They really liked the trikes … in fact, they ended up buying two trikes two days later, and are enjoying their new freedom!

As for today’s trail, rather than driving straight into the beast, we opted to go around the northern end and found a “trail” that needed an explore.

The Ray Roberts Trail was rustic, not real normal rail trail quality but nicely shaded and quiet. We ended up turning around shortly after passing the oncoming trail maintenance tractor which trashed the trail surface and disrupted the packed dirt so we didn’t quite as far as we hoped.

By the time we returned to the van, the temperature was getting rather hot so we took it as a win and headed into the beast for our final night in Texas.
