I do! I’m down in W Kettering not far from the old Golden Nugget.
9 months agoFrom this map, it looks like you live kind of close to me. I am in the Belmont area a little west of Smithville and Wayne.
9 months agoThank you for the feedback. I spent years ignoring my disability and making this video was hard. I try to accept myself but it can be difficult. Thanks for the kindness.
9 months agoThat's an excellent description and a cleverly adaptive way of presenting it. Well done!
9 months agoI am often disappointed when I go to the movies. I'll go to any Wes Anderson film though, and when I went to "Asteroid City", I thought I had already seen the best movie of the year. I like his weirdness, quirkiness, and his style in general. Anyway, I saw the previews for Oppenheimer that day and it looked great. Based on your review, I now know I ABSOLUTELY MUST GO TOMORROW!
9 months agoWhat a kind comment! Thank you so much. I’m having a great time documenting this trip and I definitely appreciate the feedback. Love it that you are catching the references. My wife is a seamstress and fabric designer and made this tank for me-how cool!!!
10 months agoAs a big fan of Midwestern bike touring, I've enjoyed following along with your tour since the beginning. I guess now is as good of a time as any to finally send you a comment. Well, not just a comment, but also a compliment. Your journal is outstanding. It's smart, fun, descriptive, non-rambling, subtly and appropriately humorous, and full of interesting vignettes & obscure references (the Granddaddy song in the title of this page for example.) And the (I assume) custom-made Juicymelt shirt is the best!

10 months agoTotally agree! The hat half watermelon was as big as my head.
10 months agoAnother day to look back on in awe in your later years!
10 months agoCongratulations on your 22nd Wedding Anniversary.
10 months agoI absolutely hope you are right. I understand that community building is the revolution and Karl is definitely a part of the solution. I was recently having a conversation about how the touring cycling community has remained mostly uncorrupted. I think it’s partly bc it’s so small and tight knit. I wonder what it would look like during a depression where so many more are on the move and society rebukes transients - such as the vilification of the hobo? I could see bicycles being the new train jumping for sure.
10 months ago"Will we see those beside us as neighbors, brothers and friends, or will the bread lines break into chaos as the needy clutch up the edges of our humanity trying to feed their own families. "
Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I think Karl is your answer to this question. I find it interesting that he interrupted your reverie about The World and its handbasket. It was meant to be.
I mention this in almost all of my journals: Every single time I take a bike trip, my faith in humanity is restored.
Thanks for the ID. Definitely a colorful little fella!
