I assume the shape on the chest of this statue has a completely different meaning in the East than it does in the West? :-)

As should be obvious to anyone who knows me, I absolutely hate it when people look at something I've done that was cool, tell me that they like what I did, and that they want to emulate me; it's just the worst feeling ever.

Of course I don't mind! :)

Honestly, without being in the middle of writing a journal, I wouldn't be able to tell you off the top of my head. I think it's one of the drop down formatting options.... in terms of text customization, cycleblaze is not as 'friendly' as that other site was.

(On the other hand, my text customization is one of the reasons that the cycleblaze parser hasn't been able to reformat most of my journals and put them online here.)

For the table of contents, when you create an entry, you can choose to make it an entry or a header. It's a bit annoying though with headers because you have to remember to go and open them again and mark them as visible to the public.

Hi Marian
Another question how you set up your journal. How did you get the big headings like background pre trip...and then the subheadings

Hi Marian
We are new to cycleblaze and moving our journals as we got booted off the bike journal site....so weve been looking at how people set up the journals here. Yours seems closest to how we like ours to look. I like how you just used D instead of Day, so hope you dont mind we'll probably use that shortened version.
Love your journals. Weve cycled twice in China.

Hi Marian,

I used to read you other cycling blog, but I got kicked out by the *****. I really like your writing and read most of your post over time. Glad I found your postings again. Keep it up.

Cheers, Jean Knops

Even when I'm being absolutely horrid to people who won't let me stay because they are determined to enforce nonexistent laws, I've always been very careful about my behavior to the point that if something ever does get LiveLeaked, the person refusing me the room will (rightfully) be the one who looks like an ass.

The family in Sweden showed up 15 hours before check-in for their reservation, were rude, weren't trying to pay, and made a scene which (in every video) makes them look like utter prats. Also, they happened to be assholes at the exact right moment when China was pissed off at Sweden over something completely unrelated.

I thought you might be interested in this account of Chinese tourists being ejected from a hotel in Sweden. https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/17/world/sweden-chinese-tourists-intl/index.html The Chinese government seems to take a dim view of such actions!

I think that's definitely a workable possibility. Right now all we know is "Barcelona". But, we will have 5 weeks in Spain so it will probably be more than just Barcelona. (Of course, with 5 weeks in Australia, we never managed to leave Sydeny....)

Hey, we’ll be arriving in Spain in early December ourselves. Our autumn tour ends in Girona, after which we fly to Taipei. We might hook up, if it works out. Hey - you’re a translator! We could buy you a beer in exchange for teaching us a few words in Mandarin. No, not two beers, just the one. That’s my final offer.
